Toso & Massari
Renato Toso was born in Murano in 1940; Giovanna Noti Massari in Venice in 1939. They both graduated in Architecture in Venice and married in 1968. They live and work in Zero Branco (Treviso), focusing on architecture, interior design, restoration, and design. Their relationship with Leucos is not only professional but also deeply personal, as they contributed to its founding. Leucos is in fact the result of their passion for glass, cultivated from a young age in the family glassworks (Fratelli Toso), where they designed tiles, stained glass, objects, lamps, and modular elements. In the field of architecture, they designed the school complex in Scandolara (Treviso), carried out several restorations in the historic center of Venice, and created headquarters and exhibition spaces for various companies (including the Leucos headquarters in Scorzè). Since 2002, they have been working in East Africa and Tanzania at the request of the Camaldolese Benedictine monks, designing three monasteries in Mafinga, Dar es Salaam, and Karatu (Ngorongoro). In the design sector, they have collaborated with various companies, ranging from industrial inlays to upholstered furniture, from decorative accessories to textiles, as well as lighting and glass objects. They have held solo exhibitions in Venice at Palazzo Grassi, participated in group exhibitions at the Louvre Museum and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and at the MoMA in New York, and have received numerous international awards and recognitions.
